‘Significant’ winter storm forecast for Ottawa Valley

Residents in the Ottawa Valley should brace themselves for a “significant” winter storm on Monday.

According to Environment Canada, Renfrew, Pembroke and Barry’s Bay can expect snow or rain Monday morning, with 10 to 20 cm of snow expected to fall by Tuesday morning.

The snowfall is expected to continue into Wednesday, with an additional 15 cm possible in some areas. Daytime highs in those areas are expected to reach between 1 and 4 C, with nighttime lows of between 0 and -5.

Ottawa can expect rain for the next couple of days, starting around noon on Monday and continuing until Wednesday, when there’s a chance that, with the temperature dropping to -6, it will turn to snow late in the day.

A high of 4 is forecast for Ottawa on Monday, with a low of 3 expected. Tuesday’s high should reach 6.
