Wednesday morning temperatures at the Edmonton Blatchford station measured 4.9 C with 9 km/h winds out of the west, northwest.
It’s Wednesday morning, which for my dog Murphy is the best day ever.
Every Wednesday morning at around 5:30 a.m. I stumble out of the house and take the garbage and recycling out to the curb. Murphy laments any moment we’re not together tied at the hip so one morning I’m lumbering out the door carrying far too many bags at once — pffft, I’m not taking two trips — and Murphy just bolts. But rather than taking off completely, because he’s such a good boy, he just stops halfway down the walk and turns around and waits patiently for me. Together we take the garage/recycling to the curb and he smells a patch of grass and we go back inside and that’s it. Takes all of two minutes.
Well we’ve been doing this long enough now that Murphy knows Wednesday mornings, he anticipates them. He’s all about it. It’s his favourite thing. This morning was quite chilly and we could see our breath for the first time in a long time. Brrrrr. It’ll be the same the thing tonight as forecasters expect temperatures to drop to around 3 C in the city with a risk of frost. Temperatures are expected to rebound and hit 20 C again this weekend — this amazing fall we’ve been having just keeps on giving.
